Okay, I’ll start from the beginning. About two years ago, late March in ’07, I was shoved into a wall wrong and bent my left clavicle. Ever since then, it’s bent, and it’s bothered me.
It’s FINALLY been diagnosed as a plastic bowing fracture, and here’s the thing. Since this injury is two years old, the only way I’m going to be able to get it fixed is to get surgery (I believe the doctor I went to in the end said it was going to be an osteonomy — basically they shorten or lengthen the bone). Now, at this point I’ve tried everything to get rid of the pain, and I’m perfectly willing to get this surgery done. The only thing is, I haven’t had any luck finding any info on an orthopedic who does this procedure, and does it extremely well. Can I safely assume, for one, that an orthopedic shoulder specialist should be the type of doctor I’m looking for? Or is there a clavicle specialist in orthopedic medicine? And, is there anyone who’s have clavicle surgery before and thinks they can recommend a doctor to me? I’d need a name, where they are (preferably in the northeastern U.S. since I live in NY), and why you think they’d be a good choice.
To those of you that answer, thank you so much for your input!
