Should I get a surgery that my doctor does not recommend?

I went to the doctor last week because both of my clavicles protrude out at the medial end. It looks like I have 2 marbles sticking out of my chest attached to the clavicles. The doctor ordered a CT and I went back today for a follow up appointment. The CT showed that both the medial ends of the clavicle are displaced (stick out a little more than they should) but there is really no treatment and usually people just live with it. He gave me the option of getting surgery to shave off the protrusions, but he said didn’t think it was necessary since medically, it would be ok if it was left alone. I really want the surgery because I can’t stand them… I was made fun of in high school for them and they really bother me. The surgery would leave a 1 cm scar on both sides that would be along the clavicle bone to try to hide it. He brought in 2 physician assistants that said they would not recommend it because there are complications that can occur such as infection(but the risk is very low). My better judgment is telling me not to get it because it is not medically necessary, but I feel like psychologically, it is necessary. Should I get the surgery? I don’t want my doctor to think I’m nuts, but I feel like there are risks in everything and this is something that really bothers me. It would be covered by my insurance since there is something wrong with the clavicles
